Salted Lemon is a new juice bar that has opened in a former shoe store on Liliha Street.

When you walk in, you are greeted by a welcoming staff, and the menu features a variety of juices, smoothies, or fruit and vegetable bowls. The most popular item on the menu is the “Acai Bowl” but their featured drink is the “Salted Lemon”, the inspiration for the store’s name.

The “Salted Lemon” tastes like lemonade but is less sour and made with preserved lemons. For me, the best part of the drink is the lemon peel at the bottom of the drink. It is really refreshing and different from anything I’ve ever tasted.

The “Acai Bowl” is basically a very thick acai berry smoothie that they top with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, organic granola, and honey. Since it is a popular item on the menu, I decided to try it to see what all the hype was about. I placed my order with added mangoes for only $0.50. I was not disappointed, and the bowl was bigger and more filling than I anticipated.

The “Papaya Boat” is an item on the menu that I haven’t seen anywhere else. It is half of a papaya filled with Greek yogurt, blueberries, chia seeds, bananas, honey, and granola sprinkled at the bottom. I don’t really like Greek yogurt but the “Papaya Boat” surprised me because the Greek yogurt wasn’t overpowering.

Another unique item on the menu is the “Thai Gingerade”. It is a blended drink that tastes like lemonade with a ginger and basil kick. I love getting this drink after tennis practice because is crisp and refreshing.

Although the taste and presentation for their drinks and bowls are exquisite and makes the place a worthy stop, Salted Lemon is hard to get to because there isn’t any parking available. I know many people who have wanted to check out Salted Lemon but abandoned the idea because they weren’t able to find parking on the street.

Since I live within walking distance of the shop, Salted Lemon is my go-to when I need something cool to drink or if I just want to get out of the house. The ingredients used are fresh, natural, and delicious. Prices range from $4 to $10, and the place is open seven days a week. (Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)  It is located on 1723 Liliha St, across the street from Longs Drugs.
