Hi, my name is Megan Lee! I’m a senior, and this is my third year on the Eagle Eye staff. I haven't changed my bio since sophomore year, but much of what I wrote is still true. Here are some quick facts about me: I have a major sweet tooth, hence my love for baking. I’m also a Thắng's avocado smoothie enthusiast, a matcha latte lover on the days I need caffeine, a bookworm who has too many books on her TBR list, Marissa Watanabe’s #1 fan, and an amateur food critic (yes, I eat foods and send reviews to my friends). I cope with life through Spotify playlists, and I probably watched The Parent Trap over 50 times. P.S. follow the original @apcalcsupportgroup :)

HBA’s long-held tradition of Spirit Week—in which middle and high school students compete in games and activities to be the most spirited class—returned in full swing this January, after two years of being scaled down due to Covid-19 restrictions. This year’s event presented the last opportunity for the Class of 2023, the seniors, to secure …

“We want the Student Council to be more than party planners. They are student advocates,” Christina Yasutomi, council advisor, explained to the student body during the first day of school assembly. With that, the Student Council kicked off what they hoped would be the first of many opportunities for students to rekindle their wavering school …

When I started reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, I didn’t know what to expect. In comparison to other books I have read, this book had the least exposure, which is understandable since this is Honeyman’s first novel. The book begins with an introduction of the story’s protagonist, Eleanor Oliphant. The title is self-explanatory and completely …

I’ve always had a love for reading. I fondly remember when I was in elementary school I would spend hours upon hours reading books in my bedroom. From The Magic Treehouse in second grade to Harry Potter in sixth grade, I have truly enjoyed how books helped me escape to fantastical realms and alternate universes. …

According to an article published by the American Psychological Association, “less than 20 percent of U.S. teens report reading a book, magazine or newspaper daily for pleasure, while more than 80 percent say they use social media every day.” These results are not surprising due to the increase of technological distractions like video games or …

With a late start to the in-person school year, many sports like volleyball have had their seasons delayed. Tryouts for girls volleyball, which are usually done in the fall, took place in March this year, alongside the boys tryouts. The combined season of girls and boys volleyball started in the beginning of March and ended …

This year a few HBA faculty members—who, combined, have worked at HBA for 69 years—will be retiring. Past elementary school students will remember having lunch in Mrs. Murphy’s room, or learning how to play the recorder or square dance in Mrs. Lovett’s music class. Students of Mr. Hu remember his anecdotes filled with humor and …

At the start of fourth quarter, every HBA campus will be using a screen-monitoring tool called Classwize. Classwize allows teachers and administrators to view and guide students’ online activity on school-issued Chromebooks. In an email announcement sent to parents and guardians, the school administrations said that the purpose of Classwize is “to help their students …

In January 2020, as we looked forward to a fresh start with the beginning of a new decade, many of us had high hopes. We didn’t expect that the year would be full of surprises, many of them involving cancellations, disruptions, and challenging circumstances. Amidst the global coronavirus pandemic, a divided political scene, and civil …
