The HBA high school Science Olympiad team took third overall on Saturday at the Science Olympiad State Finals Tournament. The middle school team finished sixth overall, out of 15 teams.
The high school team won a total of eight medals, and beat eleven other schools in order to take third place. Iolani School and Millilani High School took first and second place, respectively.
This is the first time the middle school has entered a team in the Science Olympiad. They were able to win regionals and advance to states but did not place there. Students in the team were: Natalie Kwon, Carly Nakamura, Bey Thompson, Jewel Tominaga, Jessie Lin, Josh Fujita, Cody Sugai, Colby Nagano, Jalen Sur, Joel Lau, Michael Ito, Michael Johnson, Lucas Chun, Timothy Chang, Cameron Brewer, and Zach Fujita (alternate).
