Thanksgiving in Hawaii is a showcase of the island state’s unique melting pot of cultures.

A survey of HBA high school students found that rice and other Asian dishes were common accompaniments to traditional fare like turkey and ham. We also found that 4% of survey respondents did not celebrate Thanksgiving, choosing to spend their Thursday evening on early bird Black Friday shopping. When it comes to shopping, HBA students can take some credit in helping boost holiday sales, with 67% of them spending more than $50 on average on Black Friday purchases. Below are some highlights from our survey.
