On October 14, 2013, the grand opening of the new Science, Arts and Technology Building and Learning Resource Center took place.

A performance by Halau Hula O Kalama and SOL began the ceremony held in the gymnasium. After the ceremony, students watched the ceremonial lei cuttings from the stairwells of the Science, Arts and Technology Building and at the Learning Resource Center.

Senior Mark Shiroma (High School Student Council President) and eighth grader Jessie Lin (Middle School Student Council President) had the honors of cutting the ceremonial leis to mark the official opening of the new buildings, a milestone in the school’s high school expansion projects.

According to Campus Minister Rob Lockridge, one of the presenters in the opening assembly, the building has been “long in the process”. “If you think this building is a recent endeavor,” he said, “you’re wrong folks. Mark Kaneshiro, [retired long-time art teacher], has been praying for this for a long time.”

High school students now have more classroom space for science and fine arts classes.
