Since he was a child, senior Michael Garces has been fascinated with plants and animals. As he grew older, he began to explore Hawaii’s outdoors, from the Ko‘olaus to the Pacific Ocean. Garces, a avid photographer and videographer, has spent many weekends hiking Oahu’s trails and exploring its coasts.

When he took an Environmental Science class in junior year, Garces learned that Hawaii’s unique ecosystem is especially fragile and that many endemic plants and animals have gone extinct or are under threat.

In this documentary, Garces speaks to three individuals who have been working hard to fend of invasive species in Hawaii, in an effort to protect and preserve Hawaii’s natural resources for future generations.
